Daphne chuckled, squeezing his arm in amusement and reassurance; she knew this was not his thing and was utterly grateful he had come with her. It did her well to be seen at such occasions, especially dressed so fabulously on a handsome man's arm.
At his comment her eyes widened in alarm, surely no one wearing some sort of lemon affair could ever think they look good. Lemon! Daphne tore her eyes away from the offensive article and instead scanned the room for those they did know. They paused on Aveline, nose wrinkling at her choice of grey and black. "Oh, that just washes her out, really now, what was she thinking?" Daphne sighed softly, as if Aveline's choice was a slight against her personally. Daphne viewed all fashion disasters as such.
The cringe made her shake her head softly. "It wasn't all bad," Daphne responded, though half-heartedly. Hogwarts wasn't exactly her favourite time in her life but...it wasn't all bad.
"Darling, you're limiting our pool of conversation to less than a handful of people if you throw around the word 'intelligent'," She teased in order to lighten the tone once more. Hogwarts always seemed to put a little dampener on her, too much happened in the end for to look on it with much fondness. "You, myself and perhaps Blaise if we can find him amongst the lemon, lace and oh, is that truly sequined?"
