WHO: Brodie and Clara LUPIN WHAT: Comforting cuddles WHEN: 26 September 2028 WHERE: The Palace RATING/STATUS: Sad/In progress
Since hearing about the news of his father-in-law's death, Brodie wasn't sure what to do with himself. Of course the king had always been a potential target for political assassination, but like most people, he hadn't thought it was possible. It just seemed...surreal. But as they spent time in the palace with Pansy, there was a definite feel in the air as though something was missing, and it was more than just Clara's very distinct depression, which hurt him because there was nothing he could do to make the hole left behind go away. He could only do what he could to ease her pain--which, admittedly, wasn't much. Brodie felt more than a little useless.
Most of his time had been spent just holding her, making her walk with him so she didn't just sit all day, making her eat--basically making sure she did what she needed to do to stay healthy when she didn't have the motivation to do so herself. It was taxing after a few days, but he knew he'd be in a similar situation if anything happened to either of his parents or brother, so he kept at it, hoping it would help just a little each day.
"Clara," he said, coming back into their room after getting a glass of water she needed to drink, "I brought you some water. I think we should go for a walk, too."
