WHO: Everyone invited to Brodie and Clara's wedding WHAT: The reception! WHEN: [Forward-dated] Saturday, September 18, 2028; evening WHERE: Windsor RATING/STATUS: It's a royal wedding reception, keep it PG-13!/In progress
The morning of the wedding dawned on an extremely anxious Brodie who hadn't gotten much sleep the night before, but save a minor disaster that left the groom needing a new dress shirt, everything else was running rather smoothly. Even with that, though, it was a much better success compared to the last time they'd tried this; the fact that he even made it to the wedding day probably surprised some of his more critical judges. He surprised them further by making it to the alter, getting through the ceremony, saying 'I do,' and escourting his new bride out. As far as weddings went, to him it was perfect, with Clara at his side, his father and brother at the front to support him, and everyone who mattered to him finally at peace with each other and supporting his marriage to the only girl he'd ever really wanted.
The ceremony itself seemed like a blur after, even though at the time it felt like it took forever to get through, and his mind was so on Clara and not messing up, that he missed most of the details, the bridesmaid dresses for one, the ring he'd picked out for her, even the ring she slipped on his own finger, because the only part he really cared about was the part where they got to leave as husband and wife. None of the other stuff mattered, like that he'd taken the title of Prince, like Clara had wanted, that he was now a Duke and had money and property to go along with it. He didn't deserve the title or the money, and he certainly didn't deserve Clara, but he had her anyway, and he never once during the day stopped thinking that he was the luckiest man in the world (or at least England).
At the reception, he was finally able to relax. The stressful part was over, they were finally married, and he was happy. The hall looked amazing and worthy of a royal wedding, as did all the guests, but there was only one person in particular that he had eyes for. Hiding a grin, he went to stand next to her when she was finally relatively alone, but didn't actually turn his attention to her.
"Don't look at me, we wouldn't want the groom to get jealous of you talking to me."
