"Well...let's not jump to conclusions," Michelle said to Lance. "Anymore than we already have, anyhow," she added, since they'd all agreed they'd been snatched from different times.
He looked unnerved by the idea that they weren't on earth anymore. Which, really, was a good reason to be unnerved, but she'd have thought he'd be the one least bothered by it. He was from the future, right? He was--or was training to be (she wasn't clear on that) some kind of space fighter pilot. Were there no alien worlds in his...world?
"We don't know that we're not on earth. It could just be an island none of us has visited before. I mean, the air seems normal. I see grass and trees, and what looks like some kind of garden over there."
She jumped in place once. "Gravity feels normal to me."
And besides, she really, really wanted this to be earth. If this was an island on earth somewhere, she could hope to get home somehow on her own initiative. If not, well, the only way home might be the same way they got here. She didn't like that idea at all.
