so talking to Patricia gave me this idea for a little meme we could all do as a bit of fun outside of game stuff.

We all probably wish that becoming an animagus was easier than what it is and that just a wave of our wands would make us take animal form. What if it was that easy?
So your character[s] suddenly decided they want to be as awesome as the Marauders and become animagi.

The question is... what form do they take and why?

Why didn't I think of turning our discussion into a meme? Because you're the awesome one, that's why.

Anyway, here goes...

Hamish: Probably the same animal he'd have as a patronus: a ram. Why? First, because sheep. And secondly, because they're calm, placid creatures (shut up, Cass) but have no qualms about attacking you with their horns if threatened. Also, their fleece is as soft and curly as Hamish's hair.

Samir: A hyperactive kitten! Either a Sphinx or a Siamese because of their big blue eyes and the fact both breeds descent from the cats that were worshipped in Ancient Egypt.
Alison might have a different idea from mine, but I see Barney as a puppy person and Samir as a kitten person, both adorable and running around like crazy all over the place, but with different traits according to their species.

Zoe: Also a cat, but something a bit more dangerous and predatory. A black panther, perhaps. Like all felines, she likes to stalk on her prey and play with it for a loooong time before eating.

Tiago: Part of me wants to say a sloth because he's so placid and easygoing, but that would be the pot talking. :P However, because he's playful and loves the ocean so much, the only possible choice for him would have to be a dolphin.

Cormac: This one is the trickiest. I want to say a horse, but that's the animal that symbolizes his family (particularly his brother) and why he's trying to detach himself from their values and beliefs. Whatever it is, it's got to be something big. I'll think about him some more - and in the meantime, if you have any suggestions feel free to drop them here. :)

	My brain works in weird ways... as we'v found out. :/ Cass suspects Hamish wants to be a ram for ulterior motives. ...so Zoe wants to be Sylvester the Cat? ;) Awww but sloths are cool and adorable! 	Marietta would be a red squirrel. I chose this quite a long time ago because I wanted to make a sort of connection between her and Peter Pettigrew - he turned traitor she snitched. Since hers wasn't as bad I gave her a nicer rodent? And the curly reddish tail reminds me of her hair. (Reply to this) (Thread)

In my own personal headcanon, because we know that Marietta's mum was helping patrol the fireplaces at Hogwarts, Marietta knew that Harry had been in contact with Sirius Black. And since the trio/Order were the only ones who knew he was actually innocent at the time, everything got ratcheted up from "my best friend is dating a jerk who will get us all in trouble" to "my best friend is dating a jerk who is in cahoots with a mass murderer!"

It doesn't make what Marietta did right, of course, but it adds another level of fear/urgency/I haven't had my coffee yet so I can't think of the exact word I want but it made it more of a big deal in her mind than just petty teenage stuff.

I've always figured that people's animagi form are the same as their patronus, mainly because I think the only person we see the form of both for in canon is James Potter, and they are both stags. With that in mind...

Barney - is a labrador. Big, loyal, enthusiastic, he bounds up to people and (metaphorically) licks them, and barks loudly but without any malice. He makes a tiring pet but he has a nice waggy tail :-)

Mel - is thinking too hard about this, going through the characters in Animal Farm to decide on her favourite. I think actually I want to make her a monkey, because I can think of several monkeys in animal fables that suit her.

Lee - wants to be a tarantula, and since I can't think of anything better for him, that's what he'll be. Fluffy and cuddly, but not always that nice.

Luke - wants to be an ewok. Sorry, Luke, they're not real. I think he's probably a lemur instead. I can see him hanging on things with his tail.

Valentina - is definitely some small sort of bird. A bluebird, maybe? I always think birds are so delicate because of their fragile skeletons. She also has the tendency to take flight at the slightest indication of danger. And she sings nicely.

Yakov - now YAKOV is more like a sloth, Patricia :-P Actually I think he's a pig, because although he's lazy and slobbish and loves his food, if you actually clean him up and put him somewhere nice he can be quite intelligent.

I actually have a meme I've been thinking about too, which I'll probably put up at the weekends if that's cool with everyone.

	Do we really know what James' patronus really was in canon, though? The only stag patronus we get in the books is Harry's. Yakov is definitely more of a sloth than Tiago, and not just because Tiago is too energetic when he's sober. Still, I approve of the pig. I love pigs, except when Orwell writes them. Katie would be a kestrel. You've got the obvious flying/Quidditch connection, but I particularly like kestrels because they're birds of prey (Katie's not a delicate/flighty person) but they're also relatively small and don't look threatening.

Ingvardine would be an arctic fox. I did consider a polar bear, but she's shaking her head and saying they're too big and rounded. Foxes are quick and sharp and sly.
