my brother is an ass WHO:tulip + lincoln WHEN: May 9, early morning WHERE: Lincoln's house or wherever the meanie is staying SUMMARY: little sister is worried pissed STATUS: in-progress WARNINGS: tba (language, for now)
She didn't care how fucking early it was.
It wasn't like she'd been able to sleep. Not after finding out that her brother had been attacked. The last few days had been horrible but true to her word and her promise to her brother, she hadn't gone directly to him. Mostly because she was mad at him for being so stupid as to even get attacked. And then there was also the fear of what she would see.
What wouldn't be alive when she got there.
The thought alone that her brother might die had thrown Tulip into wave after wave of depression and nausea. She hadn't bothered to eat. What was the point? Maybe if Lincoln died, she'd just starve herself until she died too. Because even when they'd been apart all this time, she'd somehow known he was alive somewhere. Looking for her. That had kept her going.
She kept her eyes and ears to the house he was rooming with others, making sure to not look like she was being nosy but at the same time, eager for any information. When it finally sounded like he was pulling through, Tulip spent the whole night in her garage stewing. At some point she had passed out and gotten a few hours of sleep but then when she woke up before dawn, she decided to screw safety and go visit her brother.
The sun was barely coming up when she crossed over the several yards to the house he was banked up in. There was still fresh dew on the grass, the crunching sound of it under her boots as loud as her thumping heart. What if something had happened in the night? What if everyone had sugar-coded what had happened? It didn't matter. She was gonna see him, her own lack of courage be damned.
Once she got to the door, she banged loud enough to wake everyone inside. "Lincoln!" Tulip shouted next. She didn't even bother to thank whoever it was that opened the door for her and stormed in. It took a few times to find out which room he was in but once she did, she stood in the doorway and glared. "You're a dumbass."
