Harley had grown up on a farm so this sort of thing came naturally to him. He could easily get lost for hours out in the fields, taking care of the crops and doing whatever was necessary to protect the food. Because hunting was kind of out of the question these days as the animals were becoming more and more scarce.
Not to mention that half of the people here couldn't shoot worth a damn. But they were learning and over time, a few got really good at it. Thankfully there were also a few people who'd had previous experience with guns. Harley included but he didn't share exactly how much experience he had so readily. He didn't want people to know he'd been in the military, though it would be obvious to any trained eye or anyone else who had also been in the military. Not that he wasn't into lending a hand out and putting his skill to use for the community but there was enough testosterone going on and he didn't feel like getting into any sort of political drama.
Since that was literally all some people were concerned about.
But out on the little farm, he was free to do whatever and not bothered by who was top dog and who wanted to pass out orders. Besides, making sure their food was untouched and growing right seemed a higher priority. Even if he'd only been here for awhile, he was eager to help and get his hands in the dirt again.
He'd just started to check on the food and see what was needed when he heard someone call out to him. Lifting his head, he turned and saw a short cute dark-haired beauty coming his way and instantly smiled. Thank goodness she was friendly. He put out his hand to meets her and shook it eagerly before letting go. "Hey there, cowgirl." A few raindrops hit around them but for now, he ignored it. "You the boss to talk to around here?"
