HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE GAME
• Start with small things to figure out what you can keep up on in the beginning; examples of this include items such as our MIXERS and IC/OOC posts for larger events.
• Sign your characters up for open volunteer slots on the TIME UPDATES that we post for the plot calendar! You can also contribute ideas to this plot doc via the link on the member directory!
• Use BACKDATED SCENES (aka: anything that happened prior to where we are in game date-wise) to flesh out relationships and characters! Seriously, not everything has to be in the present time. Go nuts!
• You can also use things like a FLASH REACTIONARY or NARRATIVE to delve into a character's actions, emotions, motivations, and general headspace to save time with scenes! (an example of a FLASH REACTIONARY)
• Explore the RESOURCES we've provided and lay out your own headcanons to further flesh out your characters: this can include filling in the SKILLS and INVENTORY sections, or simply keeping a reference journal post/document for yourself.
• We've requested timezones on the MEMBER DIRECTORY to help people coordinate the best times to write together, but everyone still has different responsibilities IRL - sometimes, scenes will get finished quickly! Sometimes, they won't! There is no right or wrong way to this method, but we suggest trying to limit the number of open threads you have to keep from becoming overwhelmed. (This is, personally, very hard for me because I want to give everyone ALL OF THE THINGS AND FILL ALL OF THE LINES, but then I take on too much at one time).
Remember: we're not going to rush everyone to operate at the same speed, so if you need more time to play things out, that's totally cool. That's the whole point of a gpsl, after all!
I personally highly suggest utilizing the IC/OOC posts, because if you're not able to tag full scenes for awhile, this will still give you an idea of how your character has reacted to what's been happening! And if you want to, tracking these posts (along with MIXERS) will let you know when other members (new or old) chime in, so you can talk about interactions and headcanons between your characters together!
If you have any questions about anything at all, please don't hesitate to ask one of us via our contact info or through discord! We're all here to help each other out however we can.
