Summary: Blaine transfers to Dalton
Blaine fidgeted uncomfortably as the headmaster of Dalton Academy continued what was obviously his rehearsed spiel for welcoming new kids to the school. Having read most of what he was saying online, Blaine's attention continued to wander around the enormous dark-paneled office he was seated in. There was a moosehead behind the headmaster's desk - a fricken moosehead! If Blaine hadn't been intimidated by the beautiful architecture and ridiculously expensive furniture - he was absolutely certain the room he'd passed by filled with students had been decorated completely in Maitland Smith - littered around the buildings, he certainly was intimidated by the moosehead staring back at him.
When the secretary entered the office to hand him a folder with his new class schedule, dorm room assignment and map of the campus, Blaine realized his meeting with the headmaster was over. Standing carefully, his ribs mostly healed but still causing a bit of discomfort now and again, Blaine reached over to shake the Mr. Statler's hand.
"Sorry it's the wrong hand, sir," he said for the third time that day, shifting the folder given him back into his left hand as opposed to the right, which while out of it's cast was still carefully wrapped in a sling.
"No apologies, Mr. Anderson. Just get yourself healed. We have quite a few extracurricular activities around here that I'm sure you'll be interested in. Charlotte, will you get Mr. Anderson here directed toward the dorms? Welcome to Dalton."
"Thank you, sir."
Blaine followed Charlotte out through the administrative offices and back into the hallway where her heels clicked loudly against the marble-flooring. She pointed him in the direction of Cardinal Hall, telling him that his luggage should be waiting for him, and waved him on his way. If a boy couldn't learn to get where he needed to go on his own, well then, he just might not fit in at Dalton, or at least that's what Mr. Statler had said during his speech.
Keeping his head down, eyes darting furtively from one sign to another that lead him in the general direction of where he was going, Blaine tried his best to not look conspicuous, even with the sling and the not-quite-faded bruises that were scattered across his face. He flinched a few times when other students got to close, but for the most part, they only looked at him curiously, some with friendly smiles, before hurrying on their way.
His room was on the third floor of Cardinal Hall, and it had been a while since he'd climbed so many steps, his breaths a little short by the time he got to his floor, ribs aching that much more. Glancing at the number on the sticker inside the folder, Blaine followed the hall down to his room assignment, staring at the door for a moment, wondering if he should knock first. It wasn't completely shut, a thin strip of light hovering along the edge. He tapped lightly before pushing it open, immediately spying his luggage sitting on a small twin bed just inside the door. Well, if nothing else, he had his iPod.
