Who: Brittany and Chase What: Cutting class and hiding out in the gym When: Thursday morning Where: ... the gym Rating/Status: Low/Incomplete
It might seem irrational to cut class and stay at school, but no one ever said Brittany was rational. Today, she had no problem finding her first period Algebra II class - she just really didn't want to sit through the talk about fractions or equations or whatever else the teacher had in mind. Then second period rolled around, and... well, Brittany was just a little bit frightened of Mrs. Rachelberrysmom - the new English teacher - who demanded that people actually turn in essays and read books. So she just hung out in the gym, doing exactly what she told Chase she did - cartwheels (and handsprings and other random acrobatics), basketball, and now she was dancing. See, being a Cheerio, Brittany did know where Sue kept a spare boom box hidden out in the gym in case the speaker system went down (it did - a lot. Coach called it a travesty and always demanded that principal Figgins fix it with Glee Club money, or something). She turned the radio on and started dancing to whatever came on the radio. She was barefoot, her cheer shoes on the floor near the bleacher, but her Cheerios uniform was just about perfect for dancing. It even had that fun swishy skirt!
She didn't worry about the "rules" her mom had taught her too much. "Not so many tricks, Brittany," her mom always said, but tricks were fun, and she wasn't dancing for anyone else right now. She pretended there was an audience in the bleachers, and just went for it. After going all out for a few songs in a row, she was out of breath and ready for a drink of water. When she went to grab her bottle off the bleachers, she caught sight of someone else out of the corner of her eyes. "I was feeling sick and got lost on the way to the nurse's office - " she started to make up as a (bad) excuse, until she realized it wasn't a teacher or other authority figure. "Oh! Chase! Did you come to do cartwheels?"
