Kurt watched proudly as Mercedes put Rachel in her place. If she wasn't quite as forceful as Kurt would have been, it got the job done. And really, he didn't want to hurt Rachel's feelings, so much as make her see she didn't need to go to all these lengths to get them to do things her way.
"Glee Club is a group effort," he said, taking up where Mercedes left off. "All of us want to be here Rachel, and we've all put hard work and effort into this." He looked at Puck and gave him a slight smile, the most the jock would get out of him as an apology. "But we have a few...provisos. Quid pro quos, if you will," he said, and stopped himself before he quoted more of Aladdin.
"We've said this before, but we are tired of being back up singers, or not regulated to dancing only. All of us can sing, and we want the chance to showcase that." He looked around the room, pinpointing Santana, Matt and Mike this time.
"With that in mind, we've come up with a couple ideas of our own. First and foremost, we're not going to rearrange our entire summer to fit into your schedule. We've worked up a draft of something that works for all of us." He thought he'd give Rachel a chance to absorb this, before dropping the rest of the group's ideas on her.
