"Mhm, but you didn't seem to care to ask us if we wanted to be here."
Mercedes stepped up to the plate. Rachel may have the will of a driven starlet, but she didn't have the attitude to keep that smug look of confidence on her face too long. As Mercedes got closer to her face, she saw a little flinch in the corner of her eyes. Mercedes drew in a deep breath, just to give Rachel only a bit of a scare before, retreating her stance only slightly.
"Glee Club isn't something we do because we have to or because we your slave ensemble. So white girl, next time you try to draw us here under false pretenses don't expect me to take any sympathy on you."
Mercedes gave a sliver of a smile to reassure Rachel she wasn't about to give it to her, well not yet anyway. As much as she couldn't stand Rachel sometimes, Mercedes wasn't heartless. Seeing how desperately Rachel wanted things to go well, well, it made Mercedes feel almost slightly bad for the girl, but not bad enough that she'd let her have her way. If Glee Club could educate Rachel on one thing it'd be that Glee is a team effort and should be treated as such.
"Glee Club, singing, is something we should want to be doing. If you're to wave your little notes at us, I don't care how much you bitch at us, we ain't staying." She could see the protest in Rachel, so Mercedes cut her off, holding a finger in front of her face.
"How about you shut your trap for once and listen. Why don't you sit down, we have a few things to say to you, Miss Rachel Berry."
