Jesse smirked. He knew, without spying on New Directions, that Vocal Adrenaline was ten times better, even if he wasn't as good a coach as Shelby. Shelby had told him what Rachel had said-about them not having heart-and he'd wondered about that. Contrary to what Rachel clearly believe, and what he had told his teammates, he believed they did have heart, maybe not as much as New Directions, but as their win at regionals demonstrated, heart wasn't enough to win you first place. It really pissed him off that Rachel would say that, although he'd never tell her, because he'd put everything on the line during Bohemian Rhapsody- that she couldn't see his frustration, the conflict he felt, through the song, that hurt. He'd thought Rachel, more than any girl he'd ever encountered in show choir, knew and recognized how emotions could be expressed through song. No, he wasn't bitter at all.
"Oh don't you worry Rachel, I'm only around until the end of the summer. And we've still got something that everyone in New Directions, excluding you, lacks, talent. You may think we lack heart, but that's where your wrong. You've seen what maybe 2 or 3 practices of ours? That's hardly enough to say with any certainty that we lack heart. I witnessed enough of your practices to know that you guys need help, and who better to spy on than us right?"
