Who: Mairi and Ernie Macmillan When: January 20 - before the coronation Where: Mairi's greenhouse Summary: An update on Padraig's killer, and some motherly advice before ascending the throne Rating: SFW Status: Closed / Ongoing It was but hours until the coronation, and yet rather than holing herself up in her bedroom, Mairi was puttering about with her roses in her favourite greenhouse. She had finished repotting a mandrake an hour ago, and needed the calm and quiet to settle her nerves before tonight's ceremony.
Tonight, her son would be King.
She had always known it would happen, as every father was succeeded by his son, and yet she'd never thought it to happen so soon.
She carefully snipped a stem, lifting the remaining yellow bloom to her nose for a sniff. She then nodded in approval and made a waving motion with the rose-holding hand, watching from the corner of her eye as one of her ladies came forward with a silver tray. She placed the flower on the tray, then returned her attention to the bush before her, examining each rose as if searching for just the right one.
