Who: Father Cormac McLaggan & OPEN When: Sunday morning 10am and afterward Where: Saint Giovanni Bosco church in Limerick Summary: Father McLaggan leads Sunday mass, and he and the congregation meet and greet afterward Rating: Hopefully pretty low considering this is a Catholic mass Status: OPEN / Ongoing Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" But Jesus answered him, "Let it be so now; for thus it is fitting for us to fulfil all righteousness." Then he consented. And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
Father McLaggan's voice echoed through the church as he read the passage, his eyes only occasionally glancing at the bible before him in order to ensure he didn't forget the words. Instead, he preferred to look out over the wonderful people sitting in the pews, their hearts yearning for light and love of the Holy kind.
"We have been as the Jordan this week, and our King as John, for we welcomed to our home our future Queen, and baptized her with our welcome and the best and brightest of all that is Irish. I myself have welcomed her to our land and our homes, and as the Lord said of his son, she is our beloved, and I am well pleased."
He finished up the sermon by joining the choir in their benediction before taking the final walk down the aisle, accompanied by Father McRory and the other attendants. Once they had reached the end, they stood and waited to greet whatever parishioners wished to speak with them or request a moment in the confessional, as well as watch all of the congregation speaking amongst themselves.
