Let freedom... ring? )

CC&B is open until 3 PM however for any extra goodies you might want for picnics today. Though I have plenty of little helpers.

Dear Nurse or whatever you are exactly other than new girl at the front desk,

I realize that you're trying to protect your patients who are all children and such and really we were just coming in to get an early start on physicals for next year. This is partly due to my son's love of playing baseball in the summer with the local league through the parks, so we try to get both out of the way so Catarina is also clear for the next school year.

It was annoying enough to get a call that my husband wasn't allowed in the room with Catarina "because you're not actually related". I can understand that to a point and if my daughter said that she didn't want him in there then that's fine. She's 15 now and could probably handle the doctor's office on her own if she wanted to do so, but she doesn't. Which is why we then delayed the doctor for me to leave work and bring my almost-three year old into a pediatrician's office largely full of kids that are there because they're sick (because what he really wanted for his birthday was chicken pox). You then proceed to check my identification and inform me that i can't go in there because our LAST NAMES DON'T MATCH?

I know we seem like a hyphen happy family with the Jones-Ramsey and the Ramsey-Kruger going on here, but the whole point of the hyphen was to keep this from happening if her father or I ever had an issue and needed to take her out of school or the hospital or anything along those lines. I hate to think what would have happened if she was a boy and just would have been a "Jones". It was not just two surnames we picked at random though, so perhaps I should not have gotten so pissed off over pointing out that there was a key component of "Ramsey" in both our names which is kind of WHY I kept my maiden name the first place.

I'm sure Dr. Gregory was also just pleased as could be when I finally got to speak to him considering he's been our pediatrician for almost eight years and knows who I am and that we do have an assortment of names around here, but he was kind of wondering why Parker wasn't allowed in the first place.

So I hope you had a nice day after we left.

Sincerely,
Kaylee Ramsey-Kruger
Mother of Catarina, Bridge, and Spencer
