Jane looked less than impressed at the reaction of Mao and James, the three jocks that had also been a part of the frey looked sheepishly at her.
“You three, my office. Now.” Her tone left no room for argument and with a couple of parting glares at James and Mao, they shuffled off.
That meant Jane was free to focus on James and Mao. “Fighting in the corridor?” she asked, sounding vaguely disappointed. “I would have expected it from them. But from you two? Self defence or not...” She shook her head.
“Whilst I’m glad to see that you’re at least talking again-” everyone on the faculty had noticed the strain: it was hard not to, “-but I hardly think that brawling in the corridor with apes is the best way forward.” She glanced at the clock on the wall. “I’ve already got three ingrates in my office, more than enough stupidity in one room.” She couldn’t keep James and Mao back tonight since parents had to be contacted and all that.
“So, to keep my sanity as well as your heads, you’ll both come to my office tomorrow morning before school. I want you here at eight thirty, sharp. Otherwise your detention time doubles.” Unfair? Maybe. But if anything, it would at least give the feuding friends something to talk about. “Any questions?”
She paused, eyeing the two teenagers for a moment, “Actually, don’t answer that.”
