There was a scuffle going down in the corridor. Jane lifted her head from the desk when she heard it and blew out a breath. She narrowed her eyes a little, placed her hands flat on the desk and got to her feet.
Her heels clicked on the floor though the sound was barely heard over the noise of the small crowd that had gathered and the shouts from those involved in the fight.
She strode over, unafraid of the way in which the fists were flying. She had seen many-a fight in the halls of this school in her time as a teacher.
“Boys! That is enough!” she barked, voice loud and cutting over the noise. The crowd that had been egging them on fell silent. “The rest of you have places to be. I suggest you go there. Quickly.” Her tone was sharp and cold, direct in that way she was well known for.
