Penny didn't really look okay, but Calvin decided not to mention it, partially because it wasn't his business but mostly because he'd managed to pick up on the fact that Penny was pretty easily spooked and he didn't want to freak her out. Well. Any more than normal.
"I'm great," Calvin responded genuinely as Penny pulled herself back up to her feet. "Oh..." Catching Penny's forlorn expression at having left her books and laptop on the ground, Calvin immediately intervened. "Here, let me get those for you." Reaching over, Calvin retrieved Penny's property and carried them in to class for her, setting them down on her typical desk. "There you go." Anyone else would have done the same, right? Well, anyone decent anyway.
