Who: Evan and Natalie (feels good to write that again!) What: Evan has some news for Nat When: uh, tonight I guess? Doesn't matter Where: their house
It was getting late. Evan had just tucked Charlie into bed, and was finishing cleaning up the toys around the living room. The house was quiet despite the quiet murmur of the television to keep him from feeling lonely. Natalie was down the hall probably immersed in a good book. His mind was racing. Details and details and details. He kept going over numbers, trying to figure out dates based on ages, and wracking his memory for a good point in his life to go back. He knew that he wasn't the biggest risk, but he certainly didn't want to mess up his marriage over an insignificant thing like showing up on the wrong day.
He closed the toy box, flipped the television off and tiptoed down the hall. Leah was staying in the dorms on campus. It gave her more freedom that way. She'd be able to blossom into a more independent young woman. Evan was incredibly proud of her. He couldn't live with himself if he did something that would lose her.
"Nat?" He knocked softly on the door before entering. He was right. She was reading in bed. "Hey. Good book?" He crossed their bedroom to the dresser, toeing off his shoes while undoing his belt. In a quick motion, his pants were around his ankles, only to be picked up, folded and placed on a nearby table. His shirt was next as he undid the buttons one by one. That, he placed in a hamper, before climbing into bed. He rarely wore pajamas. Boxers served the same purpose.
"I love you, you know that?" He leaned forward and placed a light kiss on her lips.
