"Well," she started slowly. "I was robbed last night." She distinctly left out the location. Normally, it was right up her alley to throw something like that in his face. She was right, after all. For the most part, anyways. But it was sort of embarrassing that he'd gotten under her skin enough for her to want to prove to him that he could do it.
"The guy took my purse and hit me in the face." She shrugged. "The hospital said I didn't have a concussion, at least." She knew it was only a matter of time before some snide comment left his mouth. She was mentally preparing herself for it.
