It all seemed so obvious to Scout. It seemed so apparent to him (whether or not it was true is another thing altogether). Megan was scared of her relationship with Ian, what it meant or didn't mean. Her words only confirmed it, in his mind. Then, of course, was the fact that she obviously had the hots for Scout himself. She acted stand-offish, but an act was all it was. She came to hang out with him at the bar, didn't she? And she texted him. And now she was on his bed. - The only thing that wasn't immediately clear was why she was dating someone like Ian in the first place.
But really, it didn't matter - whatever her reasons - they didn't matter. What mattered was that she was sitting next to him and he wanted her. Scout continued to smile. He leaned in close and asked her: "So, when's the wedding?"
