Mao hadn't been aware that he was holding his breath, but when Ariel smiled he let it out in a breezy laugh of relief. "Word." The word was echoed with a little nod, he definitely got the joke. He should have known he had nothing to worry about with Ariel. Mao let his shoulders droop in a relaxed pose, grinning into his beer and feeling, for the moment, that all was right with the world. He was a little surprised that Ariel didn't jump to ask what his power was, that seemed to be the very first thing anyone did when they found out (if they didn't think you were some sort of abomination.) Maybe Ariel didn't want to pry, but Mao didn't have any problems giving details if the other boy was curious and could keep the info on the down low.
There was a slight lull in conversation, Mao, for once, wasn't really sure what to say. How exactly did you follow letting someone knew you had a super power? It'd be totally lame to keep on talking about it unsolicited, Mao didn't want to look like more of a try-hard braggart than he already did. So, the only thing he could think to do was to keep the conversation focused on Ariel.
"So, do you wanna be in musicals or something?" Mao didn't quite understand what you'd even do with a 'musical theatre' degree. He hadn't even known such a thing existed. "What if the band takes off? Which would be better, being a rockstar, or a...uh... musical... guy?" Mao couldn't think of any famous people who did musicals.
