Of course Ariel recognized the choreography of Uptown Girl - how many times had he watched the music video himeself? Enough to know it by heart. He and his younger brother had acted it out - Zac was the uptown girl, of course. Ariel had to have the singing part. As Mao neared, his knees bouncing nearly to his chest, however, the singer didn't join in. He just laughed - the switch from undulation to marching had been so smooth as to seem seamless. Quite impressive, really. And in cargo shorts.
Ariel himself hadn't stopped moving since he'd hit the dance floor and as the chorus came on, he just smiled and closed his eyes, raising his arms again. He sang.
"Starships were meant to fly-y-y! Hands up and touch the sky-y-y! Can't stop 'cause we're so hi-i-i-gh! Let's do this one more time." He shook his head and his hips. In contrast to the drummer's moves, Ariel's tended to be sharper - a mix reminiscent of Elvis and straight up club dancing. He opened his eyes when Mao shouted over the music and his smiled widened, especially at the 'bow-bro.' He yelled right back. "I never lie! I was robbed!"
The boy mimed as he spoke, placing his hands in the air, palms out - well, one palm. The other was wrapped around his drink. His eyebrows came together in an expression of worry. Ariel laughed.
"But I'll dance with you anyway! Only because a man in cargo shorts should never be left alone!" He held the cup out of the shorter boy's reach as he moved in closer, shaking his head at Mao. His curls bounced when he did. The pair of them were now both in the center of the circle of onlookers.
