It was an undeniable fact that Mao could not be around a girl for the first time and not activate her 'bitch mode' at some point. It was inevitable. He just had a way with ladies. He caught the eye rolling and a sour look crossed his face as he saw his chances with the girl dwindling. She even did the hand on her hip thing!
Mao exhaled a breath through his nose and jerked his chin up haughtily. "I'll keep up all right. Don't let your panties bunch just yet." Despite the confident act, he felt relief when he heard the word 'covers.' If this was a cover band he'd have the easiest job ever. And if it was covers she was interested in, then it'd be covers he'd do. Mao stalked over to the drum set and settled down on the stool. There was an awkward moment where he grabbed the drumsticks and just sat there eyeing the drums and cymbals as if he'd never seen them before (which he hadn't, at least not in person.) Then he gave himself a little shake and began to play.
He decided against going straight into a crazy drum solo. Those only really sounded cool in the middle of a concert when everyone was already pumped up and excited. He opted for something unexpected, but hopefully recognizable. Who didn't like the Halloween theme?
