Who: Nora and OPEN What: Nora's birthday Where: Restaurant in the city When: Last week Rating: Low
After so many years on the island, Nora was still finding it hard to believe that she really was back in NYC. She didn't think she'd ever see the place again, and living back here again had given her a sense of completion that she couldn't really explain. Some of the places had changed, the scenery, the buildings, even some of the restaurants, but there were still some good ones around. And Nora could still navigate the subway system as if she'd never left. She was quite proud of that. Of course, things were a little different now. Navigating the subway system alone was one thing. Doing it with your 9-year-old son was something else entirely.
The restaurant they had chosen this year for Nora's birthday was a small one she had never heard of before. It was an Italian restaurant, and after a little research, Nora found out that it had its grand opening just this past year. It was high time for them all to check this place out. Since Dean had made all the plans for the night, Nora wasn’t sure who else was going to show up other than herself, her husband and Lucas. She hoped she would get to see her girls at least. They would likely come with their husbands, but she doubted they would bring the kids along. Though, that would certainly turn this small restaurant upside down. The Ramsey-Dale-Kruger clan was not one to mess with especially when hungry.
When they arrived, Nora was led to a small table toward the back, which could only mean that it would likely only be the three of them tonight. She was slightly disappointed by this, but she figured that perhaps the girls would have to work and wouldn't be able to make it tonight. But then she overheard the waitress telling her husband something about pushing tables together if necessary. Oh, this was going to be some night, and Nora just couldn't help but grin widely at the thought.
