A field trip. Perfect. Just perfect!

Perhaps if Ethan had been told this after he was given his latte and not before, it wouldn't have caused such an aneurysm in his brain. And it wasn't even that he didn't like field trips. They were usually a lot of fun, and he could spend all day just showing kids around the lot. Today was just not a good day for that.

It was one of those days where Ethan truly wished he wasn't a father. Two of the kids, Little Duck and Ti, had gotten sick with what looked to be the flu. So, they both had Ethan up all night trying to calm their coughs and sniffles, while the others complained up a storm. Add to that the ridiculous amount of work that Ethan had to do today, coupled with filming at least two scenes for the upcoming show, and you had a very cranky Ethan on set.

As the kids filed in, Ethan tried to keep a mostly cheery attitude, while mentally writing the nastiest email to whichever brilliant genius of the universe decided to schedule him for a field trip tour today of all days. He was glad to hear from the teacher that they wouldn't be too long as they had practice SATs to get to. Ethan briefly wondered what a group of 4th graders had to do with practice SATs, but he still felt far too tired to ask. By the time they all left, Ethan felt like it was nigh time for a good nap, but of course, he still had a good few hours left of filming.

He had escaped into his office for a moment to catch a small break, when his phone went off.

"Mister Turner? Someone here to see you."

Ethan threw his hands up in frustration. Who the hell could it be now? He stomped out of his office and headed out to the lobby, where he was pleasantly surprised. "Oh good," he said with a sigh and slumped down into the nearest chair.

"Reinforcements. Just what I need."

Carter was irritated...irritated to no end, so he did what he usually did when he was frustrated. He separated himself from said project and focused on another. Currently his source of irritation was that his writers kept trying to push the idea of them doing a musical episode...he had done a musical before...he did not want to have to write music again. Also the show hadn't been running that long that they should waste episodes by doing "fun" episodes. Sure they had holiday specials...well just Christmas. One should wait a year or two before doing a bunch of "fun" episodes. He was still cautious to do a Halloween episode, which is why they weren't doing one this year.

So he decided to focus on a solo project he had been thinking about. A prequel of sorts to The Genome Project. Maybe a little mini-series based on the scientists and maybe a little bit about the original patients too. He knew he had a lot of pre-work to do. Like a script for example. Also casting, set design, location shots. He decided to check out the local TV studio if they had any vacant spots, also how large they were. Just wanted to get the basics. It was a lot of work that he usually had hired someone else to do. But he decided that going there himself it would work better. He did have a friend who worked there. He hadn't seen Et...Mr. Turner is a long time. He was his first boss and he had to say his best boss to this day.

When he arrived he said he was there to see him. It didn't dawn on Carter to call ahead, he wanted to surprise him. Double surprise him with a visit, first just him showing up also him showing up with little Bi with him. She was currently in dream land in the front carried that she loved. Since he was still technically out in the open he kept his baseball cap on. He had removed the sunglasses and was looking around the lobby while he waited for Mr. Turner to show up.

A grin broke on his face when he heard that he was reinforcements, "I'm afraid I wouldn't be much help since I have the little Bi with me, but if you need me to hold something I guess I could manage." The instincts of an intern are hard to break.
