Though perhaps his confidence was supreme (but not overblown, because, face it, he could back it up), Ariel had never been cruel. A meaner man might have taken David's proposal as surrender and laughed in his face, but Ariel wasn't such a person. Instead, he grinned like a maniac and lit out of his seat like it was on fire.
"How do I feel about it?" He asked incredulously, a hand pressed dramatically to his heart. The boy began walking toward the stage, the teacher behind him. "How do I feel about it! I'll have you know, I've gone as a Time Warper to many a midnight showing. That's how I feel about it."
He flashed the pianist a smile, even as some applause broke out in the crowd at the sight of the two men together on the stage, and leaned in to name his request. Before the music began, he stepped close to David and asked, eyebrows raised high: "Are you going to be Riff Raff or Magenta?"
