Who: Carter Manning, baby Bianca, & OPEN What: Father/daughter time in the park When: September 28th, afternoon Where: Washington Square Park Rating: Low (there is a baby present...come on)
It was getting scarily close to October, much quicker than Carter would have liked. Sure he knew it was coming up the first few episodes of The Genome Project had aired and it was going well. Also the weather had been getting cooler and the rain had come. This time every year was always stressful to him because by the end of September they had to hammer out the final details and work on the scripts for November sweeps because they'd start filming at the end of October. Scripts for November sweeps were the most important scripts next to the pilot, season finales, and May sweeps. The beginning of each season sort of went along with the finale...you have to make sure you have figured out how to get your characters out of whatever cliffhanger problem you got them in at the end of the past season. He remembered how a show he worked on back in his interning days chose to not do that and yeah lets just say he had to find another intern position pretty quick.
So to calm his nerves he decided to go to the park, grab a hot dog and enjoy the warm weather while it lasted. And of course spend some quality time with one of his favorite girls. Abby was busy teaching her classes, honestly he thought she'd want to have a few more months to recuperate, but she had told him she had been getting a little stir crazy so going back to her teaching gave her a little bit of time out of the house. Also it gave Carter more time to adjust to Daddy duty. For the past few months if he ever got confused he could always pass her off to Abby, but now...he had to figure out things on his own. One of the things he figured out is that she hated her stroller now, but she loved the front carried they got. It at first was weird carrying her around like that but after he got to wearing it around the house with her while he worked or was on the phone he almost forgot he was wearing it. The constant reminder would be the little coos she'd make or the slight warmth he'd feel against his chest. She'd fall asleep almost instantly after he put her in...the sound of his voice and breathing was comforting her supposed. The only time it was hard would be when Jeffrey would call, he would have to yell at him in a very different way. He'd do it in a soft sing-songy voice so that Bianca wouldn't wake up. He also found having Bianca up against him made him not get as angry as usual. He still got angry...oh yes, but he seemed to let it go and offer to talk to the writers or whoever was causing a stink himself. For those calls he'd hand Bi off to her mother.
He took a seat on a bench with his hot dog long finished he decided to look through some of his notes for November sweeps and the winter break cliffhanger. His trademark baseball cap and sunglasses hid his identity enough so that he wouldn't get recognized unless someone was REALLY looking for him. He then heard someone say his name, just his first name mind you. If the person had said 'Carter Manning,' he'd start running or actually smile and sign autographs, then run home. However if it was just his first name he knew it would be a friend and he turned to face where the voice came from.
