"There aren't too many of those now, they're either mixed with sports or mini-nightclubs where they think if the play the music loud enough and keep the room dark you just might not realize there's no DJ. Ah! Those give me a headache," Dawn rambled away as she tended to when she knew she was being sized up by others. Even though she put herself in the position on a daily basis, it was as if subconsciously her nonsensical mutterings was her main form of misdirection. As much as she hated being alone, she tended to keep her acquaintances and friendships one-sided. The less they knew about her, the better.
She cast an appraising eye while he downed his drink. The guy did seem to be rough around the edges, but at least he was easy on the eyes. If she had been on the type to prowl for a hookup, he would've ranked somewhere on the list. But she wasn't, so she could at least appreciate the view for as long as he stuck around. Her eyebrows lifted as she came to that conclusion, but she made no comment on it.
"The last name's Miller, which interestingly enough is like the same brand I never drink," she grinned, taking his hand and giving it a light shake. "Nice to meet you, Caleb." Once she let go of his hand, she glanced over her shoulder to see if they had darts and billiards in the bar, then turned her eyes back to Caleb. Nodding over to the game area, she inquired, "Do you play?"
