08.08.47 - 8:00a Hallie, My boyfriend and I have been together for a long time. We live together. I thought he was going to propose but he hasn't yet. We recently found out that I was pregnant. I'm afraid if he asks me now, it won't mean as much because people will think he's only asking me because I'm pregnant. I'm also afraid that he actually will only ask me because I'm pregnant. How can I get over these fears? - Pregnant and Panicked Pregnant and Panicked, First, congratulations on your new bundle of joy. May he or she grow up to live in interesting times. I would suggest talking with your boyfriend over your fears and how you both feel about marriage right now. In the end the only person who's opinion matters about your relationship is yours, and there are likely to be people who will think that you're only getting married for the sake of the baby. People commonly judge what they don't understand, and with a pregnancy you're already going to hear a lot of unsolicited opinions on how you should raise your child. You should do what makes you more comfortable and feels right. Just because he proposes doesn't mean that you have to get married in the next nine months. If you would like to though, there is nothing wrong with that either. - Hallie Need Advice? Ask Hallie is written by Hallie Parker and published every Wednesday and Sunday.
