Ari's brow furrowed at Toby's comment. "Not when they're opposite sexes. At least, not in our community anyways." Sure, it was an old fashioned thought and almost no one adhered to those rules unless they were ultra Orthodox, but Ari still clung to what she was taught as a child. And one of those things was that it was just not acceptable for a boy and a girl to go out in public together, alone unless the community was watching them and it was an approved date.
A confused look spread over Ari's face when Toby explained where Sarah went to school. "...why does she go there?" She lowered her voice before speaking again. "Can her parents not afford Yeshiva? Maybe we can help them out a bit if you really like her." Ari's mind started reeling with thoughts of all of the possible connections she had that she could call on to help her baby boy's girlfriend get into the same Yeshiva that he went to, if he wanted.
"Oh..." She thought for a minute about how she wanted to respond. "Still. Let Eden try on her own clothes. Don't make that poor girl try on non-tznius, punk clothing for Eden." Ariella's dislike of Eden was shining through in her tone of speech.
