"You know, mi vida. You're going to have to learn to tie your shoelaces some day."
Mari was crouched down in front of Mikey as she went about tying his shoelaces. As their first official act of summer vacation, Mari took Mikey to the Zoo. It was the first time they could get out and do something on their own, since AJ was off at work. Mikey enjoyed going to the Zoo. He often tried to mimic the sounds that all the animals made, and when asked what he was doing, his only reply was, "Talking to them of course!"
That wasn't his power though. Penny assured Mari of it, but it was still nice to allow her son a bit of creativity in his life. It had been a long day at the Zoo, watching shows and eating pizza for lunch. But now, it was time to go home, and of course, getting off the subway, Mikey's shoelaces were a mess. They would have to walk a bit, but not very far to where AJ was going to pick them up after leaving work.
She really shouldn't have stopped right in front of where the subway was disembarking, but then, she didn't want Mikey to have to walk for blocks with his shoelaces untied. "Oh!" She exclaimed when she felt someone trip against her. "No, please. I'm sorry." It was actually Mikey who noticed him first.
