Scout gave another shrug, watching the girl cross her arms. "It just takes creativity," he said simply. He smiled. "And I have to know whether or not I'm rooting for the person I'm speaking with. That's imperative."
He was (he thought) obviously lying. That would be kind of ridiculous. But it was fun to pretend anyway. And it kept the girl from walking away, so that was a plus. At the girl's next words, Scout cocked an eyebrow. "I suppose you only root for those you know, then? Seems a bit unfair."
