Molly had no idea what was happening right now or what to do. She hadn't been taught in driver's ed what to do if the brakes on the car randomly failed. Did she turn the car off? Did she jump from the car? Did she call 911 and hope for the best? What ever the best option was, Molly did nothing but honk the horn repeatedly. All she could hear was her heart beat pounding in her ears as she collided with someone and then another car.
She had had many out of body experiences lately but this one took the cake. Her power wasn't quite working just yet but Molly felt like she was watching a horror film from the sidewalk. The on coming car couldn't have possibly stopped in time to miss her and instead, slammed right into the driver's side of the car. Her air bag luckily deployed but it didn't do much good, since the whole side of the car was smashed into her and bones audibly snapped. If anything, the air bag only pushed her head and body back into the seat and then forward again into the steering wheel like a little rag doll being thrown around.
Most people talk about how their life flashes before their eyes in moments like this. It wasn't quite what was going through Molly's head though. Her mind was completely numbed by the experience and from having a panic attack seconds before the collision. Eventually, the cars stopped moving and people were still bustling around. The glass on her windshield and side window had completely shattered and flown in every direction possible. Shards flew at Molly and scraped at the bare skin on her chest, arms, and face. There was blood running down her cheek and arm but Molly didn't move.
Her whole mind and body was numb from the shock of the experience. Molly's body was shaking slightly, though she couldn't control it. Her hearing was completely shot at the moment but she could see everything that was happening around her. There was smoke coming from the two cars, people were running around, and blood was starting to trickle down the side of her nose. And there was a man coming to the car.
Noah's words were almost completely inaudible to Molly but she looked up at him, still visibly shaking and clearly terrified. She didn't have enough strength to care what he was saying, she just knew she needed to stay awake right now and probably be moved from the car. There were sirens blaring in the background but there were always sirens humming somewhere in the city. Were they coming for her? Molly opened her mouth to try and speak but nothing came out. Before she knew it, she was being picked up from the car. Had she closed her eyes, she wouldn't have known she was being moved. Every inch of her body was numb to her, and she didn't even know if she was breathing but she was fully conscious so Molly took it as a sign that something in her head was forcing her to breathe.
As Noah carried her over to the curb, away from the wreckage, Molly tried to look up at him. She didn't know who he was but he was a hero in her mind already. Even in his arms, she still shook and blood kept flowing from her arm and the scratches on her face from the glass, getting it all over Noah's arms and shirt. Molly could feel the wet blood on his shirt from her, with the side of her face pressed against his chest. When they finally got to the curb and sat down, Molly just stayed in Noah's arms. Her dulled senses were starting to come back and as the pain set in, Molly started to cry and wimper. Her left arm and leg were throbbing immensely from the pain and as it got stronger, Molly's breathing got heavier. Her vision started to blur from so much pain hitting her all at once and her eyes started to flutter.
