The only people who put this much sugar into coffee were fourteen year olds and the people who didn't actually like coffee. Not to mention, coffee was expensive, had no nutritional value, and was prone to making already hyperactive teenagers more hyperactive. Jacob himself didn't drink the stuff. Jacob made a shocked face at Cori as the girl stuck out her tongue at him.
'And here I thought you were the sweet granddaughter. Turns out we were both wrong,' he replied, raising his eyebrows meaningfully. 'And Grandma already knows she's not the fun one. Don't worry.'
He moved back toward the waffle iron, peeling off the first two that had finished. He set them on a plate and placed the plate in front of the girl. 'You just need to dress it,' he said, scooting the butter and syrup nearer to Cori. He went back to the batter and poured more into the iron for round two.
