Mari had to admit that she too was on the verge of tears. Just the thought of not being able to have children, of not knowing what it was like to have Mikey in her life was devastating. All she could do was sit there next to Mal and rub her shoulder, occasionally brush her hair back and offer her tissues that she always had nearby. All those things that Mal thought about Mari weren't true though. Mari was anything but perfect, but she had learned from her mother to always be prepared for anything. It was why she always carried Tic Tacs in her purse and how come she seemed to have just about everything anyone needed for any situation.
Then, Mari was also that eternal optimist. "Are they sure though? I mean, there are so many advances in technology these days. And there's always adoption." She gave Mal's hand a squeeze. "Where there's a will, there's a way, right?"
