Emily had been pleasantly surprised when she got a call from Nikki saying that she came to town for her birthday. Sure the two girls worked together so it wasn't like they never saw the other. But with Nikki's success and Emily with her kids it usually was a quick hello here is the music goodbye. But today the two girls just got to hang out and catch up. Nikki was disappointed she didn't get to see the kids in person, but Emily showed her plenty of photos showing how much Hank, Eva, and Conner had grown. She gave Nikki a hug goodbye and made her way home so she could hopefully beat the kids home.
While having kids took a lot of her time and she had to constantly adhere to their different schedules, she wouldn't trade it for the world. Being a mother was one thing that Emily truly felt like she did right. At first it was terrifying but the minute Hank called her Mama, when they put Eva in her arms, and the first time Conner smiled at her she knew that it was going to trying at times but so worth it. One hand adjusted her purse on her shoulder while the other traveled to brush against her abdomen. She and Sam had talked about maybe trying for a fourth and last night was definitely a time where it could have happened. She wondered, could she be pregnant now...at that very moment baby number four could be one way. She bit back a smile at the thought then shook her head. It didn't matter at the moment, it was too early to know or to check.
Checking her watch knowing she may just manage to meet the kids at home she decided to cut across the park. So concerned with getting home she didn't notice a figure right next to her. They turned and bumped her, her purse falling to the ground.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I should have watched where I was going," she gave a little smile and then she saw that smirk...and heard that voice...Kevin. She stiffened as her eyes widened in that frightened way they had years ago. Sure he was alone but he could still terrify her. What was he doing in DC, had he been here the whole time...watching her? Now she was pretty sure he wasn't still pursuing her after all these years, but with Kevin she never really knew. He hadn't taken no years ago and her being married and a mother wouldn't make a difference with him either. After taking her purse back she took a step back with a little gasp. Taking a deep breath she gathered up all her strength,
"Kevin...I need to be going." She turned to leave hoping, praying that he wouldn't stop her.
