Who: Abby and OPEN What: Eating lunch in the park When: Friday @ 3:30pm Where: Washington Square Park/The Village, NYC Rating: PG
Abby yawned as she took a seat on the bench at the front of the lecture hall and started packing up all of her things. She loved being a professor and teaching biology but growing another human being sure was tough work. Her lectures were about two hours long, twice a week and there were five sections for the lab that went along with the lecture which were each three hours long. It was a lot of a work just to trek from the upper west side down to the village, but she wouldn't trade it for anything. Except maybe a closer job or apartment now that she was pregnant.
She paused for a moment as the baby started to kick around and shift positions, and then eyed her watch. Three o'clock in the afternoon had turned into kick the kidney for the baby lately. "Alright, alright, I'm going," Abby said to the baby, grabbing her bag and heading out of the room. There was no way she could definitely waddle safely down seven flights of stairs in the Silver Center, so she opted for the elevator and tugged her rolling briefcase along, one hand on her belly and the other tugging the bag.
As she headed out the building, Abby took in a deep breath to see what smelled good for a late lunch. There were so many different aromas going around Washington Square Park, it was crazy. But she opted for a small vegetarian place just barely south of the park. After grabbing food, she took it out to the park and took a seat on one of the benches that faces the Arch. Taking a bite of her food, Abby scanned the park to see if she knew anyone and to get in some quality people-watching time. Every couple of bites she'd wave to a child staring at her belly or to one of her students until she heard her name being called. "Abby?" She turned when she heard it to see where it was coming from and noticed a person slowly approaching her.
