A sigh of relief escaped her when he explained that he was not the father of Josie's child (the thought of which made her skin crawl), but when he went on about his kids, she might as well have sucked that sigh right back in.
"Your kids?" she asked after a brief pause. "Not... our kids?" It was impossible to keep the hurt out of her voice. They were living together, after all.
