There was nothing quite like the feel of a newborn baby’s soft delicate skin. Nora had almost forgotten what that had been like as her finger gently touched Cata’s smooth forehead. The infant squinted her closed eyes and made a noise in her sleep. Nora had to keep herself from just going “Dawwww” as if she was a school girl looking down on a newborn kitten. Well... something like that. “She was very brave. Gave her mommy a lot to worry about, but she made it out all right. The nurses were impressed by how big she is considering how petite you are.”
She pulled up the nearest chair and just took a seat by Kaylee’s bedside. Her eyes never left the sleeping form of her granddaughter. I’m a grandmother. The thought alone was a shocking one, enough to make anyone faint from the realization, but Nora held it together for Kaylee’s sake. Plus, she was tired and yearned for just a few hours of undisturbed sleep in her own comfortable bed. That reminded her to call Dean soon... “Of course, babes,” she replied, finally glancing back at Kaylee with a curious grin.
