Who: Josie and Evan What: Howdy neighbor When: Friday, Feb 3rd, afternoon Where: Josie's new apartment building, Evan and Natalie's current apartment building Rating: Medium/High
Josie picked up the prom photo of her and Alan from her bedside table. She took a moment as she looked at the photo. She gave a little bittersweet smile at it as her eyes watered up. It was one of her favorite of the two of them. Neither of them had even looked at the camera like they were supposed to. They both wore bright smiles and were gazing into each other's eyes. She swiped at her eyes quickly and placed the picture gently in the box that she had earlier label Alan. Going through the room that was planned to be his was hard. She had only been able to do a little bit at a time before she moved back to her own room and packed some generic books or nic-nacs that she wasn't using right away. Once she closed the box up she made her way to the door. She paused for a moment and gave her childhood room one last look. Taking a deep breath she gave it a little smile and shut the door behind her.
Josie made her way to her brother's old room and the one that had been changed slightly to be Alan's. Her birthday gift to him. She glanced around the room one more time and shut the door. She then started making a trek down the stairs. It was hard leaving her home, it was all she had ever known. Every inch of the house had memories, her first steps, her first words, her first kiss, her first heartbreak. When she reached the bottom of the steps she glanced at the front door and remembered prom and how Alan had stood there and told her 'Josie Allen, you are stunning.' He had looked at her like she was the most beautiful thing in the world. At the floor by the door he had dumped his jacket and tie and she her shoes and hair clip. Then the two of them had made their way up stairs and well...it was pretty obvious what happened then. He had told her that she was beautiful in every way. Glancing up the stairs the tears started to fall. This was why, this is why she had to leave. There were too many memories, too many of him, she had to walk past the room that she gave him. The room that caused them to fight and that was the last conversation they shared. What would have happened had she never offered it to him? Would he still be around, would he be here with her now? No, no now wasn't the time to think of it. No more what ifs. All they did was make it worse. She had to pull herself together, this was it. This was the last time she was looking at her house. She opened the door and glanced back into the house that was full of memories of Alan and her and their love story. Josie took a deep breath and pulled back her tears and shut the door. She made her way to the trunk and sat in the passenger seat her Alan box in her lap.
Josie watched her old home vanish as they drove away. The people who were helping were meeting at her new place and apartment building closer to the cafe where she worked. Also Hobbs wasn't too far, but distance wasn't really a problem for someone like her. It wasn't long before they arrived at the building she pulled out the keys the landlord gave to her when she signed the lease. She then made her way up the stairs holding her Alan box like the precious cargo it was. Slipping her key in the lock to her new apartment a truly ecstatic smile came to her face. She opened the door and looked around. It was pretty good for what she had to pay. It had a separate room for her bedroom and a bathroom and a pretty large space for her living room, dining room and kitchen. She heard the crew she had hired make their way up the stairs and moved further into the apartment so they could make their way in. She pointed to the bedroom,
"All the furniture will go in there, where I want things to go is already taped down." Think of Josie what you will, but she had done everything so that her move would go quickly and flawlessly...well in regards to furniture placement. She made her way out of her new home to get another box from the truck.
