Who: Macy and Chris What: cake giving and a little bit of talking When: backdated to his birthday Where: The Jones' house Rated: lowish?
It wasn't a surprise to Macy that their mother didn't bake Chris a cake. She wasn't one to assume the worst in people, but something permitted her to think poorly of Laura Jones long enough for her to throw something chocolate together. It wasn't perfect by any means, and probably only tasted as good as the box it came out of, but it was something. And it was more than Chris had expected.
"Knock, knock," she said outside her old house, holding the cake in one hand and a small gift in the other. It was dark out, after closing of the Cafe, when Chris said he'd be home. "Chris?" She really hoped he answered the door. She really, really didn't want to talk to Laura.
