When Abby looked up and saw that it was just Carter that she had bumped into, she didn't feel quite as bad. He was usually pretty cool about things. Not today though, apparently. "Jesus Christ, Carter. What's wrong with you?" Abby stood up and stuffed the books back on top of her pile along with the ones that he had picked up for her. "You look like you've seen better days." She motioned to his messy hair and general sour look. Was he still upset about what Grace had told her with the whole kissing mess? Hopefully he wasn't still mulling that over. It was stupid and childish and if he was really that desperate to find someone to practice kissing, maybe he should post something online - it seemed to work for that other girl.
Before Carter could answer though, Abby started to walk back to the table she had all of her books at already. She didn't care if he got a chance to answer just yet - her books were clearly heavy for someone her size and he hadn't offered to help her with them so she rushed to put them down before her arms snapped off. Abby motioned for Carter to come over and grab one of the chairs from an unoccupied table. She was good at listening to people and he looked like he could use a good chat, among other things like a good night's rest and maybe a nice hot meal.
As Abby realized he looked like he needed food, she rummaged through her bag to see what kind of food she had in there. She was rarely home for dinner and usually was either walking somewhere or at the library so she tended to have food with her. When she found a bag of pretzels she tossed it at Carter. Before he could object to taking the food or continue with what he was saying, Abby interrupted him. "Eat it now."
