Normally the return of school was something that made Kaylee Ramsey excited. She enjoyed her winter vacation time as much as anyone else, but there was a fine line where she was just ready to get back to learning and her friends and school work. It was the exact reason that she had been fighting against it through December when Dr. Lewis had even suggested it. Sure, she still had her homework and other things to do as the week had progressed and teachers had decided it wasn't entirely evil to hand out homework. It would be like an extended winter break or something after all, right?
That was definitely wrong. Around Christmas whenever the theatre was open, she had a perfectly good reason to be there. Now it was back to work for both of her parents while Lucy had her own classes to attend. Monday had bored the hell out of her just hanging around the house cleaning for lack of other things to do, and Tuesday had her trekking out to the garage and her workshop to get some progress made on her pieces. With the radio blasting and the heat fan going she hadn't even noticed anyone was back home until they had banged on the door and suggested she get back inside. Wednesday had been spent lurking around the online pregnancy board for others that were due the following month. There had only been one other teenager that she had even noticed, 18 and married out in Wisconsin. And of course the supposed "drama mamas" that she was content to avoid in the middle of drawn out arguments about celebrities and their "special needs" for labor and delivery or circumcision. At least the articles around the site had been interesting to read even if she had already been over most of them a dozen times before.
Today had just involved making sure all her work was together to drop off at school in the morning and yoga once the house had been empty. Some more house cleaning and reading and Kaylee was pretty sure she was going to go nuts if she didn't get out of the house. Within 15 minutes she was out the door hoping to at least get a walk in if she didn't happen to run into one of her schoolmates on their way home. Maybe when she got home she would at least give Sasha a call and see what she was doing that weekend. Nothing quite like feeling like a bother to your best friend who probably had far more fun things to do than feel like she was possibly baby-sitting Kaylee and baby-to-be.
