Who: Mal and Evan
When: Friday evening
Where: La Bouqinerie
What: Mal sits down for a coffee and someone sits across from her
There was just no other way to say it. It was fucking cold outside. No one could deny that winters in Frye Island were about as brutal as they came. Mal supposed this was why AJ enjoyed his summers on the beach as a lifeguard. Good tan, good view, good job. Until some stupid kid went drowning somewhere. That must be annoying. Mal did not like the cold, which was curious considering her own heart was about as cold and as small as that of the Grinch who stole Christmas. Still, it was a fact.
La Bouqinerie was rather quiet for this hour of night. It was early enough that people were likely still eating dinner and late enough in the week that they might still be around town at least. Mal sat quietly at one of the tables just sipping her coffee and scrolling down her Hobbs student account online admiring her grades. She wasn't sure how she had pulled it off this semester. She had been rather distracted from her course work by her job, and not having Mari around almost all the time to help her was seriously affecting her concentration in school. Somehow she had pulled through. Mal was relieved.
The feeling didn't linger as she felt more than heard someone pulling out the chair across from her and taking a seat at her table. She slowly peered over the side of her computer to give the person a raised eyebrow. "Really?" Was all she asked.
