Natalie laughed softly at Alfie's eloquence as she moved to swap her shoes to the climbing ones she'd taken from the counter. Teenage boys always had such a way with words.
"Oh yeah, soccer, right? Didn't you kick someone in the face recently?" Maybe not the best thing to bring up, but it had slipped out before she'd considered that it might have been embarrassing for him. "Not that it matters-" she added quickly, sitting back up after lacing up her shoes.
"I do," she replied, shrugging. "Dating Evan has its perks." Evan. Who she was living with. Who had bought her a promise ring with a diamond in it. She resisted the urge to let her giddiness at the thought show through. "Plus it helps me relax. Releases tension, you know." She tossed a smile in his direction. "Are you looking to belay again?"
