WHO: Mary Ann and Nathan.
WHAT: Bumping into each other.
WHEN: November 30, afternoon.
WHERE: Hobbs Student Union.
RATING: TBD.
Winter it seemed was here and Mary Ann was thoroughly enjoying it. Or at least she was enjoying its early stages with the sudden snow and chilly weather. She wasn’t looking forward to late December or even January when the weather would be much colder and there would probably be more snow but she was for the moment pleased with the way things looked beyond the glass of the window she was sitting next to in the student union.
Finishing the corner of sketch Mary Ann packed away her sketchpad and pencils. She’d spent enough time daydreaming into the afternoon and she really should be getting home to her brother. Especially since he posted about the Christmas lights being loud. He had her a little worried considering he’d never complained before and the Dale’s had used the same five strings of lights for several years now.
Getting up from her seat Mary Ann slung her bag over her shoulder and picked up her empty coffee cup from the side table and deposited it in the trash as she walked. Her cell phone choosing that moment to start ringing, hands fumbling she dug around in her pockets and then proceeded to search for the phone in her bag while continuing to walk. Of course the downside of her choice was that a) she wasn’t looking where she was going and could not see that she was about to walk into someone and b) she ended up missing the call anyway because of the collision.
When she finally caught her balance and found her phone which apparently needed the jolt to find its way into her hand, Mary Ann looked at her victim. “I’m sorry I was just looking for my cell phone,” she muttered holding the electronic up for the young man to see, “I didn’t hurt you did I?” Honestly if she had she was going to feel pretty bad, hurting people was never something Mary Ann particularly liked doing; even if it was only by accident.
