Who: Dean and open
What: Theatre stuff
Where: Sapphire Stage
When: Afternoon
Rating: Low
Within the darkened shadows of the theater, upon the stage, an immensely fierce lion loomed, teeth sharp and bared within a deadly maw dripping with malice, ready to tear out the throat of any soul unlucky enough to get in its way.
The attendees of his most recent fall class had really outdone themselves this time with their masks, and as Dean gently tapped the clay ear of the giant cat, he made a mental note to send another thanks to the art department for lending him their teacher and materials for the week. He was tempted to take this one home and show Nora, but she'd had enough to deal with through the last months without opening the door and finding the face of a bloodthirsty carnivore staring back at her. Any further shock was out of the question for at least the next eighteen years.
So he carefully placed it back on the table that flanked the stage's backdrop, reuniting it with the various other masks. Some were animals, others were people, or characters, and one was... he wasn't sure how to describe it, but if Smokey Bear had hamster cheeks and a three-foot forehead, this was its artistic counterpart. It was deeply endearing to him that someone had wanted to join in so much that they'd actually stuck with this creation-in-progress and saw it through to its unique end, and for that alone, he treated the mask with as much care as the more finely crafter pieces as he set about tidying up the sculpting materials.
