WHO: Calvin and Katie WHAT: Awkwardness. Much awkwardness. WHERE: At school, in study hall. WHEN: Friday, afternoon. RATING: Not too high, I'm sure.
Calvin had been excommunicated. It was still tough to cope with. After all, all of his friends were at that lunch table. But because he hadn't been able to think of a way to tell Katie about the stupid mistake he'd made in kissing Emily, and Emily had gotten there first? He'd been more or less excommunicated. And it sucked. A lot.
He knew it was his own fault, but that didn't make it any easier to deal with. Whoever said that embracing the blame was the first step to cope was full of so much crap that it was probably coming out their ears.
Shouldering his backpack and carrying his guitar case in his other hand, he made his way into study hall, eyes on the ground until he got through the door. He was late, of course, which was classic Calvin luck. And when he got inside? More classic Calvin luck ensued, of course, because the only seat available was in the very far back right hand corner… and next to Katie. He blinked once, shaking his head in disbelief. Karma really, truly was a bitch, wasn't she?
Breathing in a deep, steadying breath, he held onto the right strap of his backpack and made his way over to the chair, trying not to call Katie's attention when he sat down. It was a desperate long-shot, but maybe she wouldn't notice him there if he stayed quiet…
